"Piglet sidled up to Pooh from behind. 'Pooh!" he whispered. 'Yes, Piglet?' 'Nothing,' said Piglet, taking Pooh's paw. 'I just wanted to be sure of you." (A. A. Milne)
In the past week, Sam has received two very special pig-related gifts. The first, this adorable crocheted "golden pig," came from my friend Kristi. It's so darn adorable, I started crying when I opened it. She usually crochets baby blankets for expectant friends, and quite honestly, I was wondering why I didn't get one! Then this special toy arrived. She wanted to mark that Sam was born in the extra lucky Year of the Golden Pig. I love it!
This second gift was part of a swap with fellow blogger Diane of Woollie Wanderings, and it came all the way from Scotland.
She offered to trade one of her little wool blankies for some of my felt from recycled sweaters. I suggested the pig theme but was blown away with this "Three Little Pigs" blanket. Check out these close-up photos.
The house of straw is made of orange felt and has a little squeaky toy inside.
The house of sticks has this little piggie who can be tucked inside. Look at that cute embroidered pig!
The house of bricks is also adorably embroidered.
The other two pigs embroidered on a flap...
Behind them are apples--which happens to be one of Sam's words. He says, "App." (Look at how neat that back is!) Diane, this will be a treasured heirloom--and your felt will be in the mail this week.
I feel so blessed to have creative people in my life--old friends like Kristi and new ones like Diane--who are showering Sam with gifts made with love. Lord know I don't have time to make much for him!
These are still my favorite piggies, though. Sam has the cutest fat little feet.
